Cocoa Beach Cocoa Beach is a barrier island in the central part of Brevard, separated from the city of Cocoa by the Intracoastal waterway, Merritt Island, and the Banana River. Surfing competitions, world-famous surfers (including 6-time world champion Kelly Slater) and dozens of hotels/motels draw beach lovers from around the world.

Residents and visitors enjoy the casual beach lifestyle in a thriving ocean-side community, with miles of white sandy beaches and river shoreline. Finger canals provide many residents an opportunity to dock boats in their back yards. The high school houses an excellent program for a challenging education in Brevard.

Cocoa Village is my favorite place spend a leisurely day!

Indialantic

Upscale homes and condos share this barrier island community with beachside homes, hotel/motels and great surfing. The Brevard Planning Board estimates a resident population of 3,035. The official name is "Indialantic-By-The-Sea. The seldom-used term applies only to the incorporated town itself. Melbourne

Melbourne and Eau Gallie feature two charming old downtown areaseach with specialty shops and other attractions, and the county's largest mall, Melbourne Square - home to Dillard's, Macy's and more.Melbourne, in South Brevard County, originally was a training area for Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War.[Some soldiers, who were attracted to the river and the ocean, returned and bought land at 5 cents per acre. After the Civil War, pioneer families arrived and Melbourne was founded in the late 1860s by former slaves.

The city was named Melbourne in honor of its first postmaster, Cornthwaite John Hector, an Englishman who had spent much of his life in Melbourne, Australia. The first school in Melbourne was built in 1883 and is now part of the Florida Tech campus. In late 1942 the Naval Air Station Melbourne was established as a site to train newly commissioned Navy and Marine pilots for WWII. The program ran until 1946, and the land that was used for that program makes up most of what is currently the Melbourne International Airport. In 1969, the cities of Eau Gallie and Melbourne voted to merge, forming modern day Melbourne.

In addition to Eau Gallie and Melbourne, the City of West Melbourne is just minutes from Melbourne Square and major commuting routes such as I-95.

Melbourne Beach

More like a neighborhood than a city, Melbourne Beach is just 600 acres on the barrier island. The projected ultimate population, future projection is 4,000 persons. We're already at 3,300 in a still-quiet community.

Palm Bay

Palm Bay is a wonderfully diverse City offering something for everyone. Ask a resident who lives in Palm Bay where the best place to live is located, and they will say it's their section of Palm Bay. Close to commuting routes, close to the Indian River, offering an incredible number of new homes and resales alike, you owe it to yourself to check out Palm Bay!

Patrick Air Force Base

The Base is located just south of Cocoa Beach Florida, and is home to the 45th Space Wing of the Air Force Space Command. Patrick AFB operates the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station from which many military and non-military launches take place. Patrick Air Force Base is named after Major General Mason M. Patrick, chief of the Army Air Service (1921-26) and chief of the Army Air Corps (1926-27). The base was established following the transfer of control of the Banana River Air Station, set up in 1940 to support Atlantic coastline defense, from the Navy to the Air Force. It was also being used as a launch command center and, shortly after, acquired more than 11,000 acres of land from the state of Florida to be used as its new proving ground. Home to some very beautiful public beaches, Patrick Air Force Base, is conveniently located on Highway A1A.

Rockledge

Ready for this interesting statistic? Rockledge was the spring break destination of the 1920's! Stately refurbished 1890's riverfront homes line Indian River's east shoreline along Indian River Drive while new developments spring up at a furious pace along the south and western areas of town. Population was around 20,000 residents the last time I checked!

Satellite Beach

Just two miles south of Patrick Air Force Base, this area is known for its excellent high school. Housing is varied, with single and multi-family canal-front dwellings, beachside condominiums, and meticulously landscaped homes. Guard-gated Tortoise Island homes range from $600,000 to well over $1 million, most with deep-water docks.

Titusville

Here's a place where nature is in harmony with the everyday world. The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and the Canaveral National Seashore separates Titusville from the Atlantic Ocean. The economy of Titusville is based on the aerospace industry, tourism and citrus. The largest sea turtle nesting area is located at Canaveral National Seashore.

Viera and Suntree

Viera and Suntree are a series of beautifully planned communities with streets and neighborhoods strategically placed to provide picturesque vistas carved out of what was once pasture land. Viera includes Brevard's main government center, commercial enterprises, a regional shopping mall, major entertainment, and cultural facilities. The master-planned community of Viera includes its own hospital and regional high school. Viera took root in central Brevard County, Florida in 1989. Today, the community has attracted more than 12,000 homeowners, major employers, healthcare providers, entertainment and recreation venues, houses of worship, restaurants and dozens of small service businesses.
